The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a process of accompaniment in faith that includes study, reflection, community sharing, and its own liturgical rites. It is aimed at those who wish to learn about the Catholic faith and prepare to fully integrate into the Church.

What is the Order of Christian Initiation? (OCIC)
OCIC is not just an academic program, but a journey of faith, where catechesis, liturgy, and community life walk together. Through celebrations, signs, the liturgical seasons, and ongoing accompaniment, children learn to:

Parent Participation
The participation of parents or guardians is essential, since they are the first and primary educators in the faith. Our program invites families to walk alongside their children, strengthening faith at home and within the parish community.

Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the formation process through which adults (18 years and older) prepare to receive one or more of the Sacraments of Christian Initiation: Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation, or to complete their initiation into the Catholic Church.
This journey is a process of faith, conversion, and a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, accompanied by the parish community.
Who Can Participate?
This program is for:

Unbaptized adults
-
Adults baptized in another Christian denomination

Baptized Catholic adults who have not received First Communion and/or Confirmation
Requirements to Participate
Age

Must be 18 years of age or older
Required Documents

Baptism certificate (if previously baptized)

Birth certificate
-
Certificate(s) of any sacraments already received (First Communion and/or Confirmation)
Commitment to the Journey
Participants are expected to:

Attend formation sessions regularly

Participate in the scheduled liturgical celebrations

Take part in retreats and spiritual gatherings

Become involved in parish life according to their gifts and availability
Sponsor (Godfather or Godmother)
Sponsors must:

Be a practicing Catholic
-
Have received Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation

Live a life consistent with the Catholic faith
Sacramental Preparation
Baptism
Candidates must:

Participate in the full catechumenate process (described below)

Enter a time of preparation and personal conversion
First Communion and/or Confirmation (One-Year Process)
Participants are expected to:

Believe in and understand the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist

Participate in Sunday Mass

Show a desire to grow in faith and live as a disciple of Christ

Continue participating in the life of the Church
Important
The OCIA process requires openness, perseverance, and a willingness to be guided by the Holy Spirit. The parish community walks with each participant throughout this journey of faith.
